OUR HISTORY. In October 2003, our founder, Darlene Saal moved into her new home. Darlene and her husband were in government service, requiring them to move often. Darlene knew the drill, she began immediately to unpack and get things put away. In the process of setting up her kitchen, she discovered in one of the drawers a stack of business cards. The previous homeowner was a retired engineer who kept meticulous notes on everything in the home. These cards represented all the knowledge of those businesses in the community that had done work on the house. Darlene thought, I should keep these cards and use them the next time I have a need around the house. Thinking, Darlene remembered that some time ago she had received a business card holder from a Realtor® that had sold her a past home. She placed these cards in the card holder and then the idea came to her…

All homeowners really need a business card holder containing the business cards of reputable small businesses in their community. She began to study how to find these reputable small businesses and create such a reliable service network for homeowners.

Darlene had always been a resourceful mom and business woman. She began by contacting some of the owners of the businesses represented by the cards she found. It was amazing; they remembered the old engineer and could answer questions about the house immediately. Darlene knew she was on to something, she believed that by helping small businesses in the community who cared about their community, her community would actually be a better place to live. Then Darlene contacted the Better Business Bureau and got information about what it meant to be an “Accredited Business”.

Of course, Darlene asked her friends and neighbors, “Could you use a business card holder with reliable service providers?” Everybody said YES!

Darlene searched the Internet and the United States Patent Office to find a business with her same idea, but nothing came close. So, she filed the Patent paperwork in September 2006 and now The Business Card Holder® is officially Patent Pending. She also filed and receive a registered trademark “®” for the company as well. Of course she became an Accredited Business with Better Business Bureau.
